Tristan Amor Rabit works across painting, textile, installation and performance. Their practice unfolds through processes of cutting, stitching, layering and staging—treating surfaces as sites of exposure, protection and transformation. Centered on embodiment and vulnerability, their work attends to marginalized bodies and fragile modes of existence. Materials, surfaces and space are kept deliberately open rather than stabilized; meaning emerges from unstable relations between body, matter and site, rather than from fixed images. Painting is approached less as a finished picture than as a situation: an ongoing, shifting practice shaped by gestures of slowing down, opening and displacement. Material decisions carry emotional and political charge.
Alongside their individual work, Rabit initiates the loose working group Thank you for the reminder (TYFTR), which explores imagination, gathering and shared attention as artistic methods and forms of collective agency.
