(b. Wettingen, Switzerland, 1988) is a Swiss artist, currently based in Zurich. Their artistic practice spans diverse media such as painting, video, installation, performance, and text, all revolving around the complexities of contemporary embodiment. They are also involved in coordinating collective projects such as ‚thank you for the reminder‘ (2023-ongoing)‚ ‚LTD* Academy Zurich‘ (2019-on hold) and from 2020 to 2021 they were running ‚Warenlift‘, an independent exhibition space based in Zurich. Within their work Tristan Amor Rabit explores the sensuality of the body and its expressions, reflecting on specific emotions and states. Through revealing the expressive body, they open up spaces for emotional presence, at present focusing on the subject of mourning. While the corporeal becomes sensual, they create permeable spaces that break down separating functions. This allows them to examine ambiguity and states outside fixed identities. Their interest in space and its functions is furthermore an approach to challenge artistic attribution.
Tristan Amor Rabit studied at the Lucerne School of Design and Art (CH, 2010-2013), at the University Paris 8 (FR, 2016-2019) and at the University of Zurich (CH, 2021-2022). In 2021 they were honoured with a work grant from the Aargauer Kuratorium. Rabits work was recently exhibited at Galerie Gluri Suter Huus (Wettingen, CH), Culterim Gallery (Berlin, DE), Galerie Vitrine (Lucerne, CH), nomadic art projects (Olten, CH), Aargauer Kunsthaus (Aarau, CH), OnCurating Project Space (Zurich, CH), Mains d’Oeuvre (Saint-Ouen, FR) among others.
